Agatha's brownies for Brownies

Written by Agatha, 21st Fulham Guides

I have decided to raise some money for Girlguiding. I know that it’s a really good charity because my sister Poppy and I have been in Brownies for two years and my sister Molly was too but now she is a Guide. We really enjoy the activities and games and the leaders are really kind to give up their time and spend it with us! We learn new skills, earn badges and we go on camping trips and theatre trips. I have just moved from Brownies to Guides so I thought it was a good time to try and help.

People all around the United Kingdom volunteer to take girls on fun adventures to help them be part of a team of strong and independent girls and this has been going on for over 100 years. I looked on Google and during the war the Girl Guides carried important messages, helped deliver milk, sent clothing to soldiers and learnt first aid to help with injuries. Some people say that they even carried messages for MI5!

I had a tea party at our home on Sunday 12 May and asked people to donate £10 per person to eat as many brownies as they liked. For people who couldn't come I set up a JustGiving page and asked them to please donate as much as possible.

At the moment over £5000 has been donated. Thank you very much!

I feel so pleased and proud that I raised so much money. I think people were extra generous because they know Girlguiding is a really great cause, everyone can join in all over the world and because it's been around for so long.
