Help shape Girlguiding Inspire in LaSER!

Written by Amy and Dunni

We are launching Girlguiding Inspire in LaSER! Inspire is Girlguiding’s offer for members aged 18-30, and we want to provide opportunities across a range of pathways:

  • Adventure and Challenge
  • Beyond the UK
  • Developing Others
  • Events Experience
  • Leading The Way
  • Sharing Skills
  • Voice and Action.

Each month has a theme where we can share ideas and encourage members 18-30 to engage in a range of activities; independently, as a group, virtually and face-to-face.

Say hi to Amy, one of our Inspire coordinators for LaSER:

“I am Amy and I am one half of the LaSER Inspire Coordinator Team. I have been in Guiding since 2013. I began my Guiding journey as a Young Leader at Rainbows. Following this, I became a Ranger myself. Since then, I have volunteered as Young Leader and Leader-in-Training in both Rainbows and Brownies. Recently, I completed my Leadership Qualification and am currently Assistant Leader at Rainbows and Brownies. In addition, I am District Event Coordinator and enjoy organising and planning events.

I applied for the role of Inspire Coordinator as I wanted to be part of providing dedicated activities and events for Girlguiding members aged 18-30, without the attachment to a group of girls. In the coming two years, I am keen to plan and deliver Challenge Badge evenings, Pamper Evenings and Bake Offs, with a mix of virtual and face-to-face offerings. I would also like to provide Inspire- only events, including adventurous activities.

I look forward to meeting those of you aged 18-30 in LaSER as Inspire grows!”

And say hi to Dunni, the other half of our Inspire team:

"Hi, I’m Dunni and I’m one half of the LaSER Inspire Coordinator team. I’ve been involved in Guiding since I was a Brownie, and I’m currently a Brownie Leader. The most exciting experience I’ve had through guiding was travelling to Sangam World Centre (India), to be the Marketing and Communications Intern. It was such a memorable and unique experience, which helped to me to get my first graduate job! Within a couple of days of the internship, I was supporting the team as the Comms lead during the 2019 JLS (Juliette Low Seminar). I also got to lead workshops for international participants, develop my photography and design skills and eat amazing food!

As an Inspire Coordinator, my aim is to support 18-30s to access international and regional opportunities. I also plan to deliver events that are relevant to the needs of this age group, with a focus on social, career, finance and personal development. From cocktail & mocktail making to supporting those completing their Queen’s Guide Award to offering money management workshops, Girlguiding Inspire will offer a variety of events and opportunities - with something to suit everyone! And what’s even more exciting is that YOU can tell us what you would like to see from Inspire!"

We want to have a range of activities and opportunities for members, including badge evenings, advocacy, games nights, quiz nights, pamper evenings, CV and careers workshops and much more.

We would love to know what you would like from LaSER’s Inspire offer. Please complete this short survey for members aged 18-30 to tell us what you want to see from Inspire. You've got until 31 March to share your ideas!

To take part in the survey, you should be:

  • aged 17-30
  • a member of girlguiding

If you are over 30 and looking for information for members in your unit, or people you know are looking for opportunities, please encourage
these individuals to fill in this survey.

You can contact us via inspire@girlguidinglaser.org.uk or via The Hive social media pages on Facebook and Instagram @thehivelaser.

We can’t wait for lots of you to get involved and be part of the LaSER Inspire offer!
