Read our creative anthology 'survival'!

Written by The Hive

When we first set the theme of our first creative anthology to 'survival', we wondered what type of entries we were going to get. Would they be dark? Inspiring? Thought-provoking?

Turns out, a bit of all three and a whole lot more! We recieved some amazing creative entries, from lino printing, to photography to poetry, all with a really unique twist on what 'survival' means to the creator. Some played off familiar tropes such as surviving on a desert island, while others used fire, the basic tool of survival, to evolve a deeper meaning. Some use words of courage to lift us up, while others talk about finding hope on darkest days, battling darkness and how to create resilience. It really is an amazing showcase of the creativity of our members. A massive well done to everyone who entered and especially to our chosen winners.

We've put all out favourite entries together into our first creative anthology, which we are really excited to share with you. In the anthology, you'll find the following works:

  • 'Survival through the cracks' - Georgia Thornhill, Nottinghamshire
  • 'Simply words' - Sarah Hammond, Derbyshire
  • 'A means to living' - Rachael Palmer, Kent West
