Use Your Voice 2016 - Initial speakers announced!

We’re excited to announce the first of our exciting speakers lined up for Use Your Voice 2016! With booking opening at the end of January we are thrilled to announce that Amber Rudd, MP and Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Maya Evans, creative campaigner for Voices For Creative Non-Violence UK and Joanna Callendar, founder of the Doorstep Community Project will be speaking at Use Your Voice 2016!

Alongside these three amazing speakers you’ll also be able to hear from Elli Moody, Head of PR and Advocacy at Girlguiding, and Sarah Croft, Campaigns Manager at CAFOD, who have given us a sneak peek into what they’ll be discussing at Use Your Voice 2016!

Elli Moody, Head of PR and Advocacy at Girlguiding says: Whether you’re passionate about body confidence, representation of girls and women in the media, education, teenage mental health, breaking down stereotypes, or something else, you have a right for your voice to be heard. I’ll be talking at UYV about Girlguiding's girl-led advocacy work and how you can get involved in taking action for change.

Sarah Croft, Campaigns Manager at CAFOD says: My passion for campaigning started in my late teens, when I realised how much injustice there is in the world. Now I work to try to make it better for a living! I’ll be speaking about my journey in campaigning and my three favourite campaigns running now.

10 -11 September 2016 will be a weekend packed full of brilliant speakers, performances and visits so to help you plan your trip we’ve spilt our activities into three pathways: INSPIRE, INFORM & EQUIP.

INSPIRE includes performances visits and talks from leading world-changers such as Amber Rudd, MP and Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.

INFORM will give you the chance to get up to date on today’s issues, and find out which campaigns need you! We’ll be talking climate change, mental health, and more, including peace activist Maya Evans, who will be talking about a campaign she works with called Fly Kites not Drones.

Lastly EQUIP will get you prepared and ready to start campaigning about issues that matter to you, from a workshop by the Parliamentary Outreach team on how best to lobby parliament to a blogging masterclass from Joanna Callendar, founder of the Doorstep Community Project.

You’ll be able to choose sessions from different pathways allowing you to tailor Use Your Voice to your interests. Whether you’re looking for inspiration, information or skills to help you get your voice heard, Use Your Voice has something for everyone and we hope to see you there!

Stay tuned for bookings opening end of January 2016.
