GLW County Campsite Weekend

Almost 500 Guides and Leaders from GLW spent an exciting weekend camping at our County Campsite; Heyswood for “GLOW08” – It was brilliant!

The activities based camp saw the girls having fun on a climbing tower and an inflatable slide, having a go at archery, collecting plastic ducks in inflatable kayaks, playing tag rugby, 5-a-side football, grass sledging, aqua sliding, undertaking a survival course, making crafts, trying out beauty treatments, meeting celebrity reptiles, scaling a rope course, welly throwing and launching water rockets in addition to enjoying the sunshine.

The Guides were also treated to a camp fire, live band, disco and film shows in the evenings.

The whole event was a great success and the fine weather was a real added bonus.

All the girls and their leaders had a great time thanks to Sam Axbey, our Guide Adviser and her team and all the leaders who voluntarily gave their time for the girls over the weekend.  A further camp with similar activities and many more is being planned for July 2010 to celebrate our Centenary and will be extended to include Rainbows and Brownies as well as Guides – If you would like to be involved contact Sarah Pank, our Centenary Champion.

Many, many thanks to ALL involved.
