   A message from Chris Martin

International opportunities - there are so many available.

As part of a worldwide organisation, with 10 million members, our international opportunities are so exciting.

We are lucky to have a World Centre (Pax Lodge) http://paxlodge.wagggsworld.org/en/home in London and the World Bureau http://www.wagggsworld.org/en/contact/travelling is right next door. People from different countries work in both places and they are worth a visit.   This could be a first International experience for Rainbows or Brownies.

With the appropriate qualifications, any adult leader can take her unit abroad. To help with the qualification or to find out more about International opportunities, attend a GAINING (Getting Away Internationally IN Guiding) training. The Region runs at least two trainings a year, whilst additional trainings are run by some Counties and Girlguiding UK.

Through Girlguiding UK, it is easy to link up with another unit overseas. The Girlguiding UK website http://www.girlguiding.org.uk/ has information about International Camps in Europe and further afield.

An exciting international challenge for members aged 18 - 30 is Guiding Overseas Linked with Development ("GOLD").

Volunteering at one of the 4 World centres is open to any member over 18.

Then there are the Region trips, at least three a year, County trips and Division trips.

International experience through Guiding is full of friendship, fun, happiness, surprises, support and challenges. It is a wonderful experience with friendships that will last a life time.

Go for it, it comes highly recommended!
