Paxmead Riverside Base is the Region's boating centre and is situated on a delightful stretch of the River Thames at Shepperton in Middlesex which is within easy reach of Windsor and London.
The base which is well equipped for boating activities including canoeing, kayaking, sailing and rowing may be used by members of The Guide Association, the Scout Association and other youth organisations.
The base is open all year and boating is possible up to Christmas, weather permitting.

The centre provides indoor sleeping accomodation for 30, 24 bunks being in the excellent new Bunkhouse constructed in 1998. There are two separate Guiders Rooms, a large hall, a kitchen which was re-equipped in 1999, a large washroom containing showers, toilets and a disabled toilet. There is ramped access to the Bunkhouse and Main Hall. The building is surrounded by a very attractive camping area with separate ablutions block and a barbeque.
All prices are now inclusive of Electricity
Please note that there will be a minimum charge of £10 for evening bookings.
Pack Holidays - recommended for 24 Brownies. Bunkhouse, level grass areas, gates to road and towpath which are lockable.
Off-base activities include visits to Thorpe Park, Legoland at Windsor, Windsor Castle, local swimming pool, Hersham Leisure Centre, Shepperton Lock and Canoe Slalom Course, Ferry Museum at Weybridge and bird watching at local gravel pits.
Weekend and Holiday bookings from Senior Section, Guides and Brownies for boating taken from 1st October for the following year. All other bookings for Summer period taken from 1st January for that year. Bookings for September to March inclusve, taken at anytime during the year.
