Catch the Moment

Well done to Victoria Maytom and Nina Peronius who are the Guide and Senior Section category winners of the Nationwide ‘Catch the Moment' competition and both won £250 worth of Jessop vouchers each.

Update - Nina Peronius has been voted Overall Winner of Catch the Moment.

Nina Peronius a Sixth form student at Coloma Girls School, Shirley has won £500 of vouchers from Jessop's to spend on photographic equipment of her choice.

Nina's photo won the Senior Section category and went on to win overall 1st prize.

Nina had an amazing 2010, as part of the Girlguiding Centenary she was selected to go on an International trip arranged by LaSER (London and South East Region) to their selected charity for the centenary, God's Golden Acre, Kwa Zulu Natal, South Africa, an HIV/Aids Orphanage.

Nina told us,"I went in a party of 15 Guides and Young Leaders and 4 amazing Leaders. We were the second party to go, known as The Hippos and a total of 5 went across the year. We spent a week at GGA helping to build homes. The rest of our time we travelled around Cape Town visiting other Guide and Rainbow units, the Rainbows are called Teddies in South Africa. We sang songs and played games and got to know the girls and learned a lot from each other."

Nina said" The trip changed my attitude to my own life and made me much more aware of everything around me and I feel it has helped me mature and grow into a more knowledgeable young person.

Nina took the photo of her friend Cation Crawford and it just blew everyone involved in the judging away with the awesomeness of it. You can almost breathe the fresh mountain air, and gasp as the girl is about to abseil down the mountain.

In Girlguiding we pledged to give every girl a "Mountain top moment" during our Centenary, this was most definitely one for all the girls on that trip, on that mountain, on that day!
