Help for India flood victims. ISGF Appeal Funding 1st January 2009
UK Trefoil Guild help with the ISGF appeal for India.
The UK Trefoil Guild received an urgent request from ISGF India via the office in Brussels last October saying that help was needed in the State of Bihar as the Rivers Ganges and Kosi had flooded large agricultural areas. Life came to a standstill for more than a month with only local boats being able to reach the rural and tribal people.
Fortunately the Trefoil Guild National Executive met shortly after we had received the request so during the meeting the appeal was discussed and it was immediately agreed that a donation of £1,000 would be sent to enable the members of ISGF in India to provide basic resources when and where needed in the state of Bihar.
After initial money transfer problems we were thrilled to learn that, with our money, blankets and tarpaulins had been purchased and given to those in need.
Our donation was not large but at least we had been able to help and show that we cared about the people suffering in the flooded area, without homes and their basic needs.
