Where are will you go?
This island in the Indian Ocean, 15 miles off the coast of Tanzania in East Africa, is famous for white sandy beaches and is home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the historic Stone Town. But there’s another side to this beautiful island. Life can be very difficult, and a large percentage of the population survive on less than 75p per day.
What will you do?
Zanzibar’s government-run schools are severely underfunded and struggling to cope with a growing population of young people. As a volunteer, you will help by lending teaching support and improving the school environment through renovation and building work. You’ll also have the chance to explore the island and Zanzibar’s rich culture.
How to apply?
Email firstname.lastname@example.org to receive an application form. Then simply complete it and get your county international adviser and county commissioner to endorse it. You will need to be available to attend the selection day at Gilwell Park on Saturday 23 June 2018.

- You can choose to fundraise for the full amount
- You will have the option to pay in instalments
- County and region grants of up to £450 are also available towards the total cost of the expedition

Don’t just take our word for it here from past LaSERIO volunteers and members:
“The work you are supporting and fulfilling is both life changing for the children and adults based in Africa and for the volunteers who are fortunate enough to travel out there. The guides, resources and material they provide you with is invaluable when planning your adventure, the staff and representatives are brilliant and helpful and the general support they offer has been phenomenal.”
SOPHIE B, Volunteer
“It has been eye opening and very emotional at times but what an amazing experience and every volunteer on the trip has helped make this trip one I will never forget. I’ve had fun, learned a lot about myself and made friendships that will last a lifetime.”
