Commonwealth Service 2024

The Commonwealth Service is held on Commonwealth Day every year at Westminster Abbey. This year's service will be on Monday 11 March. Members of the Royal Family, UK and Commonwealth Dignitaries, diplomatic representatives, members of the Commonwealth community and school children from across the United Kingdom join together for a mixture of reflections, performances, and readings, representing the different regions and faiths of the Commonwealth.

We have been asked to provide 10 volunteers (over 18 years old) to assist us with the delivery of the service on the day:

  • 5 to act as ushers, arrive in the morning (notionally 9:30 am) and be provided with a sandwich lunch
  • 5 to act as marshals and assist with checking the tickets of guests / directing queries outside (around 1:00pm)

All 10 would be invited to stay on for the service which will conclude at approximately 4pm. Applicants must be prepared to stand and walk around for a long period of time.

Places will be allocated by ballot. To enter, please complete this form which will close at 9am on Thursday 15 February.

If you have attended the service in recent years, please refrain from entering the ballot again to let others have the opportunity. Please note we will only contact successful applicants, and if successful you should hear by Friday 16 February.

If successful, we ask that you wear smart guiding uniform appropriate to your role, as you will be representing Girlguiding.

If you have any questions about entering the ballot, please contact info@girlguidinglaser.org.uk
