Running Outdoors Nature Sessions

The RSPB wants to create stronger connections between people and nature, including giving experiences to children that engage and inspire them to take action for nature. This training aims to build the confidence of leaders and other volunteers to take girls outdoors to discover, explore, enjoy and help nature.

The intention is that, as a result of completing the training, volunteers will go on to deliver an increased number of activities in and for nature in their programmes. The training will introduce a range of activities that enhance the ‘have adventure’ and take action’ elements of the Girlguiding programme and which are appropriate for the different sections.

Course Aim:

To build the confidence of Girlguiding volunteers to take girls outdoors to discover, explore, enjoy and help nature so that they deliver an increased number of activities in and for nature in their programmes.

Key Objectives:

Develop your practical skills to build more nature-based sessions into your regular programme planning

Increased motivation for the importance and value of deepening young people’s love of nature through a combination of hands on experiences and taking actions to benefit the natural world so that girls become champions for nature and drive change

Increased awareness of the threats to nature and the positive actions which Leaders can inspire girls to take, as part of the wider nature movement.

Be inspired to build on the ‘take action’ and ‘adventure’ elements of the Girlguiding programme to create more meaningful experiences and a greater benefit for young people.

This training will take place on Zoom.
