Let’s show everyone the magic of volunteering with Girlguiding! Celebrate your volunteers and inspire the volunteers of tomorrow by lending a hand in your community or showcasing what girls get up to in Girlguiding!
Activity ideas:
- Have a unit open day to show people the fun and adventure of Girlguiding. Get parents & carers involved too – they could even help run the unit meeting or help with an activity!
- Host a party – whether it’s a garden party or disco, let’s celebrate Girlguiding with music, games and dressing up!
- Look after your local area or property – The Big Help Out 2024 is a great opportunity to get out & about in your local community. How about organising a litter-picking event, or plant trees in your local green space, or even pick up a paintbrush and revamp your local guiding meeting place?
- Come together with other units in your district, division, or county to make an even bigger impact

- Help us to showcase our support for the event by registering your activity and local volunteering opportunities on The Big Help Out platform. HQ will let us know when we can do this.
- Tell Girlguiding about the fun & exciting events you’ve got planned by emailing: bighelpout@girlguiding.org.uk.
- Shout about your activities/event online via your social media channels – we’d love to see photos of what you are doing. Use #TheBigHelpOut and #LendaHand to get involved, tagging @TheBigHelpOut24 on X and @TheBigHelpOut on Instagram.
Don’t forget
- London and South East England region have a variety of marketing resources available to hire for your events and activities. From bunting to banners and flags to tablecloths, they are available to hire out free of charge.
- The region also has a limited amount of printed materials (posters and postcards for all sections and postcards for volunteers). If you would like any to support your activities for The Big Help Out, please let us know via communications@girlguidinglaser.org.uk and we will post these out at no cost to you. Please note these materials are also available to order for free via the Girlguiding shop, though P&P will still be charged.
