World Thinking Day on Sunday, 22 February 2026 marks 100 years of this WAGGGS event so we are planning something special for the day. The theme of the day is ‘Our Friendship’ and we are hosting a webinar (on Zoom) where girls, units and leaders can come together over brunch to celebrate friendship, which is such an important part of the guiding experience.
Guest speakers at this morning event will inspire, entertain and bring our members together in friendship, fun and celebration of World Thinking Day.
Timings
The event has been planned so that you can fit it around your World Thinking Day activities - maybe after a virtual or in person sleepover the night before, or a get together in the morning. Girls and leaders can also join from home as part of a World Thinking Day at home event.
Zoom sessions will be around 40 minutes at 8am, 9.30am and 11am so it’s flexible and you can come to whichever slot fits your plans.
Here are some ideas for activities for World Thinking Day Brunch 2026
- Hold a sleepover the night before – this can be in a hall with your unit, or a virtual one at home – also perhaps join in with North West Region’s Voyage Under the Stars sleepover challenge which is raising money to support Girlguiding in British Oversea Territories
- Come together in person for Sunday morning , or set challenges for the girls to do at home.
- Read or listen to a story or poem about friendship
- Talk about friendship and what it means
- Create your own story about friendship in words or pictures
- Make a friendship bracelet – you could use our template to create a simple one with thread, or use beads like our logo design
- Plan a brunch menu of international breakfast foods and let the girls make them
- Learn about different types of food from across the world – eg Pancakes of the world (link to powerpoint )
- Create and play a list of friendship themed music
- Play games with international themes such as Mancala and Mikado
- Sing some international songs
- Send Friendship postcards to another unit
- Learn about Guiding in other countries – where they are, what their sections are called and what their uniform looks like through the WAGGGS website here
- Learn how to say friend in multiple different languages (including sign language)
- Learn about different flags and the reason they are designed that way – then come up with your friendship flag
- Plant some seeds in a little pot and give them to a friend.
- Decorate an envelope with a message of friendship and put sunflower seeds in for someone to plant in their garden
- Have friendship zoom with another unit – leaders often know leaders in other parts of the country
- Make Birthday cards (to celebrate Lord Robert and Lady Olive Baden Powell’s birthday on 22 February) and then give them out to the members over the year ahead for their birthdays
- Record a message of friendship and share through social media
- Design your own logo or badge designs for Thinking Day
- Draw posters about Thinking Day and guiding across the world
- Raise money for the World Thinking Day Fund

Joining the Webinar
If you are in a meeting with others you will need to access the webinar on a big screen or projected on to a wall. If you are at home you can use your own device. After you have registered , zoom will send you a personal link to use to join the webinar – please don’t share this with anyone else – everyone needs to register themselves so have individual links to join. As this is a zoom webinar you will be able to see and hear the speakers, but everyone won’t be able to see or hear you – you can interact through the chat function.
The zoom registration links will be shared in December but in the meantime, look out for more details about the morning’s programme, our guests, activity ideas and resources.
World Thinking Day badge
We have decided not to create another badge for World Thinking Day as we would like to encourage you to support WAGGGS and purchase their 100th World Thinking Day, which you will be able to order on their website at the end of the year when it becomes available.
