Pipās Perspective ā a message from the Chief Commissioner
It's always a pleasure to be invited to an event in the Region, especially when it's to recognise the achievement of our girls, young women and volunteers. Last weekend I joined the Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex and County Commissioners Alison and Sally for the Celebration and Recognition of Achievement Awards in Girlguiding Sussex East. We celebrated Guides completing their Baden Powell Awards right through to the Discovery Awards for the over 50's, and what an inspiration they are to us all! The previous day Chief Guide Gill Slocombe presented some of our extraordinary LaSER members with their Queen's Guide Awards (pictures below), the highest award in guiding, at Goldsmith's Hall in London. Well done to all of you who have worked so hard to develop your learning and life experiences this year - you're all a great credit to Girlguiding LaSER.

Governance Structure
LaSER Executive recently approved the new Governance structure which will take effect on 1 March 2014.
A new Trustee Board will be formed to oversee the management and strategic direction of Girlguiding LaSER. A separate risk group will also be formed to ensure that the region fulfils its statutory requirements in relation to Risk and Health & Safety.
County Commissioners will sit on a Steering Group where they will represent the interest and needs of their county and input into all aspects of LaSERās strategic plan.
The delivery and implementation of all aspects of the strategic plan will be overseen by the Operational Group which includes the Chairs of the three committees: Guiding Development, Marketing & Communications and Properties & Campsites.

Campsite Consultation
Following the recent updates in the Raspberry Ripple which have been reporting the current outcomes from the Campsite Review Group, we are undertaking a further Consultation as follows:
ā¢ to share some of the background information that the Trustees of LaSER have received when discussing the future of the Campsites
ā¢ to seek further views and comments from members and campsite users to input into the final report to the Trustees
Please encourage all members, volunteers and supporters of the Campsites to complete the questionnaires; we would like views from as many people as possible.
Please can we ask that leaders support those who do not have online access and offer them use of your facilities where possible.

Unit leaders - please provide your contact details as well as unit times and address. Many queries are directed to HQ/region once it has been agreed that a girl will join, but parents then donāt have a unit contact.
Making the Promise
13th Hackney Guide unit, a new Guide unit supported by Youth United, took advantage of the fantastic KaBoom! event to promote the great opportunities at Girlguiding and recruit new girls to their unit. Two of the new girls that joined decided to make their Promise āout of this worldā by the moon-lander! One of the girls, Mia (pictured), had been unable to get a place in her local Brownie unit and so she was keen to join the new Guide unit as soon as she turned 10.
Ann Clifford, unit leader, said,
āThe girls who came had a great time. They loved the badges and the goody bags and two of the new girls made their Promise by the moon-lander. I think it is good for girls who are new to guiding to see that we are part of a much bigger organisation.ā
