My World Centre dream came true in October 2012 when I got the chance to spend five and a half months as a Sangam Volunteer at Sangam World Centre, India however that was not the end of the dream!
I absolutely fell in love with not only India but also Sangam that after only eight months being home in the UK, I was back on a plane with the location being India! I came back to Sangam in December 2013 as the Marketing and Communications Intern and have currently spent the most amazing last eight months here; living the dream!
Working and living at a WAGGGS World Centre can be one of the most amazing life-changing experiences! You get to meet Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from all over the world that have the same passion and enthusiasm for Girlguiding and Scouting! It also makes you realise how much of an impact that Girlguiding is having on the lives of girls and young women all over the world and not just the 10 million members of WAGGGS.
But why should you visit Sangam? Truly and simply it is Incredible!
It allows you to be slowly immersed into the colourful and bright culture that is India through visiting local Community Partners, learning to tie saris, eating Indian food to even Bollywood dancing in the monsoon rain! You will also get to find out how WAGGGS’ is changing the lives of girls and young women through their initiatives for instance Free Being Me and Stop the Violence Campaign!
My story will continue until November when I return home but rest assured that my life has forever been changed from the experience and I inspire you all to start your World Centre story by visiting one of the WAGGGS World Centres today!
