If you have already completed a first aid course outside Girlguiding, you can share evidence of your completion with the region office via info@girlguidinglaser.org.uk who will then send on to our first aid verifier volunteer team. Your email address will be shared with the verifiers so they can contact you direct with any clarification points.
What kind of evidence?
First, you need to complete and attach a copy of the external first aid information form (automatic download).
You will need to provide a copy of your certificate. You can submit an image, a PDF or other formats (max size: 5MB, max attachments: 3). Please also provide a link or a copy of the syllabus for the course you have completed.
Please ensure that the date of your qualification / attendance / completion is clearly shown.
You need to have completed the 1st response elearning within the past 3 years to become a first aider at Girlguiding. Please take a moment to check whether your elearning is still current on the My learning dashboard
Which external training will count?
A full first aid qualification is one that has been provided and accredited by an organisation or governing body, for example: St John Ambulance, British Red Cross, British Canoeing or the Football Association. The course must take at least 6 hours.
If part of the 1st Response syllabus is not covered in your training, the first aid verifier will advise you on how to achieve this.
If you're a doctor, nurse, or other health care professional, you'll need to provide evidence of your most recent training, such as BLS, ILS or ALS, by uploading your certificate. The expiry date on your GO record will match the date on your certificate.
What happens after you have submitted evidence?
A first aid verifier will check your qualification against our 1st Response Syllabus (automatic download).
They will either approve your qualification or advise you if you are missing any topic areas or they need any further information.
Once your qualification has been verified, your learning record will be updated. This information will appear on your GO record, allowing you to be recognised as a first aider in Girlguiding. The expiry date on your GO record will match the date on your certificate.
