Join the Girlguiding council

Being a council member is a fantastic opportunity for you to shape Girlguiding’s future.

Applications are now open for 1 member from Girlguiding London and South East England to join the Girlguiding council. Council is a really crucial part of Girlguiding. It’s where members from all countries and regions can come together and talk about guiding. The council ensures that members’ voices are heard and are at the heart of our organisation.

How to apply

To become an elected council member you need to:

  1. Read the application pack to find out more about the role
  2. Fill in the application form and send it to recruitment@girlguidinglaser.org.uk by Sunday 29 March 2026 at 11pm
  3. Ask for two nominations for the role from commissioners or council members within Girlguiding London and South East England. If you’re under 18 you can ask your unit leader to nominate you.
  4. Complete the first part of the nomination form and send it with a copy of this pack to the two people nominating you. Ask them to fill in the nomination form and send it to recruitment@girlguidinglaser.org.uk by Sunday 29 March 2026 at 11pm

Key dates

  • Sunday 29 March 2026 at 11pm - applications close
  • Week commencing XX - region panel hold conversations with applicants (online)
  • Monday 11 May 6pm - new member induction session
  • Saturday 27 June 2026 - Girlguiding AGM and start of the new member term
