Girls can, do and will at the Barbican Centre

A day of making noise and music together.

Girls will sing songs with empowering and positive messages. Some of this music exists already in the world, for example protest or pop songs; some will be specially arranged and written for them, and they will also be involved in creating some new music.

Across the day, participants will see informal performances from a diverse range of artists, some of whom they will work with directly.

There will be a celebratory sharing at the end of the day for each other, and everybody will receive a special badge to take home designed by artist Soofiya to remember the day by.

Musical director: Jessie Maryon Davies, with a team of experienced facilitators and artists – inspired by Jessie’s work with Girls Rock London.

Cost: The event is free but all attendees should bring a packed lunch and snacks. Travel at own expense.

Places are allocated on a first come, first come basis.

Bookings are open until Monday 13 August.

For more information download the FAQs here.

Places will only be secured once photo permission slips (if applicable) and a list of confirmed names of girls and leaders has been submitted to Girlguiding LaSER by Monday 20 August.
