Following the success and fun of Escape to Edinburgh 2022 and Breakaway to Belgium 2023, we are excited to announce our next adventure for Guides, Rangers and young leaders.
How does it work?
Girlguiding London and South East England will organise a one-day wide game, based around the game of Cluedo, to encourage groups to explore the city of Cardiff, try fun challenges and meet other region groups.
You'll build your adventure around this; your team decides how and when to travel, what to do, where to stay and how long to go for. You may decide to stay in a hostel/hotel in Cardiff, a local Scout/Guide hall or maybe even stay in Bristol and catch the train in for the day. We would strongly encourage you to build at least one overnight stay into the adventure to add to the excitement, rather than trying to travel to Cardiff, play the wide game, and return on the same day. We also encourage you to think about how you can make your trip as planet-friendly as possible, and to discuss this with your members as we find they tend to have lots of ideas!
What qualifications do we need to lead this adventure?
Your leadership team will need to include someone who holds the relevant residential qualifications for your section. Whilst this isn’t an international trip, it is being run by the region’s international team as a great opportunity to gain experience and ideas to help you consider going further and working towards the Travelling Abroad module of the Going Away With scheme at a future date. This could be at our next international weekend in October 2025!
When does it take place?
The event will take place on either or both of Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October 2024. Half term falls over different weeks across the region so we’re asking you which day you would be interested in taking part, to help us to decide which day/s to run the game. There will be small cost per person (£10-£20) depending on numbers, and we will confirm both the date and the cost after the expressions of interest have been collected.
If we're from a different region, can we still take part?
This event is being organised by Girlguiding London and South East England for units within our region. However, if you are interested bringing your unit and are from outside of our region then please complete the expression of interest form and if there is capacity for you to join in we will let you know at the start of February after the initial closing date.

We’ll ask you for an update on your expected numbers and to pay a group deposit by 31 March, with the balance based on actual numbers due by 30 June.
In the meantime, start planning and recruit your team of leaders and young people! You may decide to offer this wider than a single unit – could you bring a district or division group, or offer to take young leaders too?
As in the last two years, there will be a fun challenge badge based around the game of Cluedo for units to take part in around the same time as we’re converging on Cardiff.
