Inspiring fundraising ideas from across the region
- Young members (this is suitable for Brownie age upwards) bring their dad/male family member to the unit meeting, and the pair are in a team together. A lovely event for Father's Day!
- Charge an entry fee of £5 per team to take part in the scavenger hunt walk. The team is given an answer sheet, pen/pencil and plastic bag. The team must also come up with a team name, which is written on the answer sheet.
- Map a route for the walk, which starts and ends at the unit meeting venue.
- Food (such as a hot dog) & drink is provided at some point during the event.
- During their walk, the team must find one item that begins with each letter of a phrase (same phrase for all teams). For example, the phrase could be FIFA WORLD CUP, and the team have to find one item beginning with F (e.g. a flower, fountain, fence, flag, feather), another with I, another beginning with F, etc. They write these on the answer sheet, and if they can collect the item they have spotted, they tick the box on the sheet next to the letter and place it in a bag. Teams may need to get creative with some of the letters!
- At the end of the walk, the teams also need to write down on the answer sheet how long the walk has been (in case of a tie-break). Collect in answer sheets, pens/pencils and bags.
- Calculate points for each team. The teams get 1 point for each item spotted that no one else has, and 2 points for each collected item again that no one else has. If there is a tie-break the team that completed the walk in the quickest time wins.
- Give out a prize to the winning team at the next meeting.

See here for an answer sheet template, just amend the table with your chosen phrase/add in rows as required (inspired by 24th Rochdale Brownies in Girlguiding North West region).
- Buy a small diary (doesn’t matter which year).
- Sell the calendar dates in the diary for £1 each, taking names and contact details.
- Once all the dates are sold (or at a specific cut-off point, e.g. the end of a term), pick a winning date and the owner of that date wins £50.
- You will then have raised £315 if you've sold all the dates (or £316 if you’re using a leap year diary!)

- Collect mugs (about 140 works well).
- Fill the mugs with prizes and, if relevant, Girlguiding leaflets/information. You could fill the mugs during a unit meeting or encourage girls to make prizes. Prizes could include: sweets, hot chocolate sachets, keyrings, stationery, handmade bracelets, pet rocks, seed bombs, socks, bubble bath etc.
- Label the filled mugs with cloakroom tickets ending in 5 or 0.
- Fold up the rest of the cloakroom tickets and put them in a bucket or container ready for picking.
- Raffle entry is £1 for 4 tickets.
- Those that pick out a ticket ending in 0 or 5 win a mug, e.g. if they pick out ticket 125, then they win mug 125 and its contents.
