2027 International Adventures

Ready to take guiding global with Girlguiding London and South East England as a leader?

Leader Recruitment for 2027 Region International Adventures

Imagine exploring new countries, meeting fellow Guides and Scouts around the world, and sharing unforgettable adventures with young people. If that sounds like your kind of challenge, we’d love you to apply to be part of one of our leadership teams for one of our international trips in 2027.

Being part of an international leadership team is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Over 18 months, you’ll work alongside three other leaders and a group of 12 enthusiastic young people to shape, plan, and enjoy an adventure like no other. Along the way, you’ll develop new skills, make lifelong friendships, and create memories that will stay with you forever.

We’re currently exploring lots of exciting destinations for our 2027 teams – perhaps interrailing across Europe, backpacking in Southeast Asia, attending a Jamboree in Canada or discovering South America. Wherever the groups travel, the focus will be on exploring, connecting with local Guides/Scouts, and travelling thoughtfully, with the environment always in mind.

What being a leader involves

As a leader, you’ll be part of the full journey:

  • Planning and running three preparation weekends with your group before the trip.
  • Supporting the young people as they plan, prepare, and get ready for their adventure.
  • Travelling with your team for 2–3 weeks in summer 2027
  • Celebrating together at a reunion soon after your return to the UK.

One leader in each team will need the Going Away With Travelling Abroad module – but if you don’t already have it, you’ll be supported to gain it.

Who we’re looking for

We welcome leaders from all backgrounds. You might be a Guide or Ranger leader already familiar with this age group, or a Rainbow/Brownie leader keen to take on something new. You may have experience of international Guiding or perhaps you’ve only led UK trips so far. You will want to have had previous residential experience with girls so you understand more about what is involved.

What matters most is enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and commit, and having already completed your adult leader qualification.

While every leader does need to apply individually, we also welcome applications from established teams who’d like to lead together – you should each fill in the form and indicate at the appropriate question that you want to be considered as a ready-made team.

Costs and fundraising

We expect each adventure to cost between £2,200–£3,200, and you’ll be encouraged to fundraise and apply for grants to support your trip, the same as the girls. The region does provide a substantial grant towards leaders costs.
