The Joint Scout and Guide unit based at GOSH were delighted to donate a cheque for £4,815.67 to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity on Thursday 8th January 2026.
17th Holborn was founded in 1957, and as part of celebrating our 60th anniversary in 2017, we set ourselves the goal of fundraising. We wanted to harness the power of Scouting and Guiding to give something back to the hospital we proudly call home. The funds donated will be used wherever the need is greatest across Great Ormond Street Hospital, helping to support the vital work carried out for children, young people and their families.
Like so many groups, the COVID years meant we were unable to meet in person — but we are now back. 17th Holborn runs sessions in The Cove every second and fourth Saturday afternoon of the month, offering young people the chance to work towards badges, try new activities, build friendships and, most importantly, have fun. Our unit is open to any patients at GOSH, as well as siblings and visiting relatives, aged 5–18. We are proud to continue offering a sense of normality, belonging and adventure within the hospital setting — showing that Scouting and Guiding truly can happen anywhere.
