Brownies go to Google

During May half term, 100 of our region's Brownies and their leaders took over Google for a day of fun and learning. Brownies heard from Google volunteers before experiencing programming and problem solving through hands-on activities, including making autonomous Lego busses, making Sphero robots dance to Taylor Swift, helping a Teachable Machine to learn different hand signals, and coding animations using ImagiCharms keychains.

Not only did the day give Brownies an increased confidence with technology, but girls reported a marked increase in their own perception of their abilities to problem solve and think like a programmer. Watch Girlguiding's reel to hear from the girls themselves and see photos from the day below.

And, best of all, you don't have to get to Google to take part in learning about tech - there are UMAs for all sections developed with Google.

The activities were amazing, engaging and varied. We are now looking at getting a grant to buy a set of something for one activity like this for our district.
