Explore Europe 2023

This summer, 35 Guides, Rangers and young leaders from London and South East England region are embarking on a 2-week European interrailing adventure!

Using the network of trains across Europe, 3 teams and their leaders will explore what the continent has to offer, visiting 13 countries between them. The teams and their leaders have each created their own itineraries, deciding where to visit and what to do when they get there, all while sticking to a budget. And all teams will end their trips in Brussels to help plan the activities for Breakaway to Belgium this autumn!

To prepare for their adventure, girls and leaders met for a training weekend in October last year, getting to know each other through fun and challenging activities, before breaking into their travel teams. Each team then held a planning weekend early this year before practicing rail travel with trips to Bristol and Brighton.

Let’s meet the teams:

Railblazers

The Railblazers will be visiting major cities in 8 different countries: Berlin, Prague, Krakow, Vienna, Bratislava, Ljubljana, Venice and Brussels. Their mascot is Skye the bear.

Sunsets and Cities

Team Sunsets and Cities will visit 7 countries, including the cities of Lyon, Venice, Vienna, Berlin, Amsterdam and Brussels. They will also spend 3 nights at WAGGGS World Centre Our Chalet in the Swiss Alps. Their mascot is Vanessa the Pigeon.

Rails + Rivers 23

Rails + Rivers will start in Scandinavia, vising Copenhagen and Malmo, 3 different German cities – Hamburg, Munich and Cologne – as well as Venice, and Brussels, for a total of 5 countries. Their mascot is Murphy the sloth.
