Fun on the pitch at the Six Nations

Following last year's exciting final, we were delighted to return to Allianz Stadium, Twickenham, to support the Red Roses as they kicked off their Women's Six Nations campaign against Ireland in the first round.

Before the match, Guides and Rangers from Hersham district and Twickenham division joined Rangers from North West England put their Love Rugby skills to work on the pitch, playing touch rugby as fans began to enter the stadium.

Together with their leaders, the girls joined 39 volunteers from across the region to bring out the Red Roses banners as fireworks exploded and the anthems played in front of another record attendance and viewership for the women's game. Included in those figures were many units who had a day out to watch!

Meanwhile, volunteers and staff from Girlguiding's 6 regions in England met with England Rugby colleagues to celebrate the partnership so far and discuss plans for the future, including a brand-new Rainbows offer we're excited to launch later this year.

The Red Roses did not disappoint, continuing their 35-match Six Nations winning streak with a 33-12 victory over Ireland. We wish them luck in the rest of the tournament!

Just wanted to say WOW what an experience that was! I loved every minute of it, even our training and rehearsal in the rain. Great to be part of an event with other lovely Guiders and representing Girlguiding on the pitch.

The Guides, Rangers, Millie and I had an amazing experience and thoroughly enjoyed the day. Some of our Guides and Rangers were asking when is the next one! Hearing their excitement of scoring a "try" at Twickenham and having the crowd cheer them on during the mini game before kick-off really made the day standout.

— Candice, leader, Hersham district

I had the most incredible day. It was a fun filled day from the first rehearsal in the rain, to exploring the stadium and then the on pitch rehearsals. It was a surreal moment being on the pitch in an empty stadium and then when getting ready to go live the nerves and adrenaline started to kick in! It was so nice to meet other leaders and most importantly I was so proud to represent Girlguiding and haven’t stopped talking about it!
