Here are some ideas to explore:
- Litter picking in parks and open spaces
- Bulb planting for the year ahead
- Visit to a residential home for the elderly (e.g. tea with the Brownies)
- Helping with food provision for the homeless
- Toy drive for local children’s hospital/ward
- Volunteering for weekend work in local charity shops
- Volunteering at local hospitals
- Local council / environmental projects (e.g. tree planting)
- A day helping at a food bank or baby bank
- Making and distributing cards or small gifts for residential home residents
- Blood donation (17+; blood supplies are critically low)
- Marshalling/volunteering at local events in your area (e.g. Park Run, fun runs, fetes, open days)
- Getting involved in organising an open day with the local services (fire, council, parks, etc.)
You will also have your own ideas and contacts for projects interacting with or visible in the community. Any activity that meets the objectives of the week and can be carried out during or around 4-12 October will be fine.
We are currently working with our partners to develop more activities for Guiding for Good - more details to come.
