Guiding for Good - ideas for action

Guiding for Good provides the opportunity to involve our young members in a range of community activities, raising awareness of Girlguiding and what it means to be a member.

Now that the initial week is over, we're thinking about what Guiding for Good will look like in the future. In the meantime, if you're looking for inspiration for projects in your community, you can find lots of ideas below.

Here are some ideas to explore:

Activity ideas

Litter picking in parks and open spaces
Bulb planting for the year ahead
Visit to a residential home for the elderly (e.g. tea with the Brownies)
Helping with food provision for the homeless
Toy drive for local children’s hospital/ward
Volunteering for weekend work in local charity shops
Volunteering at local hospitals
Local council / environmental projects (e.g. tree planting)
A day helping at a food bank or baby bank
Making and distributing cards or small gifts for residential home residents
Blood donation (17+; blood supplies are critically low)
Marshalling/volunteering at local events in your area (e.g. Park Run, fun runs, fetes, open days)
Getting involved in organising an open day with the local services (fire, council, parks, etc.)

Explore local charity shops, food banks and other charities working in your area. Most national charities will have local details on their website or you can even pop your head in and say hello.
