After the huge success of Guiding for Good last year, we're back this October with Winter Warm Up. Over the whole month, we'll focus on helping those in need over the winter through supporting initiatives such as food banks and winter clothing banks, or taking action to help nature over the winter months.
Winter is a particularly difficult time for families struggling to provide for their children and for the elderly living in reduced circumstances at a time of high food and fuel costs. That’s why we want to help where we can, working with charities and organisations which provide help and support.
It may seem hard to believe during this hot summer, but winter and its challenges - rising fuel and food costs and colder weather - will soon return.
The number of people needing to use a food bank more than once has increased by 35% over the last few years. In 2025, more than 2.6 million emergency food parcels were provided by Trussell food banks to people experiencing financial hardship, And data from the Baby Bank Alliance shows that last year over 3.5 million essential items — including clothes, nappies, prams and cots given to families by baby banks.
